Square Enix and Marvel are working together on The Avengers Project. Here's everything we know including release date and gameplay rumours, and the trailer.
On a rainy day in January 2017, both Marvel and Square Enix both tweeted messages teasing an upcoming announcement. Was the timing a coincidence, or were the two companies going to work together on an upcoming project?
24 hours later, the veil was lifted and Square Enix announced that the two companies would be working together on a multi-game partnership, starting with The Avengers Project, which is already one of our most anticipated games.
When is The Avengers Project release date?
So, when will the Avengers Project be released in the UK? While Marvel fans are extremely excited for the upcoming game, we’d bet that it’s still a while away.
For one, Marvel and Square Enix only recently announced the partnership and upcoming project, so we imagine work on the games are still in the early days. That would also explain the lack of information about what to expect in the announcement trailer.
More details about the game are expected in 2018, and we imagine that it’ll launch at some point in late 2018, although we're hoping to see another glimpse of what to expect at E3 2017.
What we do know is that it won't tie directly into the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel Games is run separately from Marvel Studios, which handles the films, and has already announced that its games, including Spider-Man on the PS4
